Clarksville Police report a local man has performed a Good Samaritan act of selflessness.

On June 23, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Kenneth Allen, age 49, 619 Helton Drive in Clarksville, found a blue bank bag sitting atop a trash can outside a convenience store at 811 Peachers Mill Road. He got quite surprise when he examined the contents and saw a large sum of money and a 51-year old man’s wallet inside.

He tried to find the bank bag’s owner at the convenience store and aslo attempted to contact the owner at the home address listed on the driver’s license, but was unsuccessful. He called the Clarksville Police Department who took possession of the bag and counted the money. Their inventory of the bag’s contents revealed there was $12,764 inside.

Based on a preliminary investigation, it was believed the 51-year old may have been admitted to the hospital, so the money was checked into evidence. Police were able to contact the owner and found out that he had suffered a reaction to his medication and was hospitalized. That is when the bag was left at the convenience store.

The money has been returned to the owner.
