A visit with a few compatriots on Memorial Day

A visit with a few compatriots on Memorial Day

Yesterday was Memorial Day all across the United States. Everywhere one looked, there were signs of people enjoying the holiday as the start of the summer season. Grills of all kinds were readily to be seen.

Families gathered around a common meeting place, be it in a park or other outdoor site. Riverfronts and lakes were popular gathering spots as well. Cheerful faces, laughter and smiles aplenty.

I, myself, traveled out of town to visit a dear compatriot from years past. He was restricted in his mobility but the visit was still warm and friendly.

And I gave him my thanks, not only for it being Memorial Day, but for the troubles we bore together, the lessons taught and learned together and the laughs between us.

Thank you  Enoch. I don’t forget.
