weather statement

Enjoy the warm weather while you can! The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement covering  the next five days that includes a period of accumulating snow on Friday night.

According to the NWS, huge changes in the weather are expected by week’s end. A warming trend that will catapult temperatures into the low 70s on Wednesday afternoon  is not expected to last. A strong arctic cold front will sweep across Middle Tennessee on Thursday, interacting with a flow of moist  air from the South, created an extended period of heavy rain. At the same time, temperatures will drop through the 30s on Friday.

Rainfall totals of 2-3 inches are expected by Friday afternoon. The rain is then expected to turn to  a mix of sleet and snow by Friday afternoon across northern Middle Tennessee with the changeover to snow and sleet  in the Nashville area by Friday night.

At the same time, temperatures will drop through the 30s on Friday. Accumulating snow is increasingly likely by Friday night.

IN addition, forecasters are monitoring the weather for Saturday night and Sunday when another round of wintry weather including sleet and snow could occur.

Residents of Middle Tennessee are asked to monitor the weather situation and any change to the forecast that might occur.

The nigh temperature will peak on Thursday with a springlike low 70s and a possible thunderstorm and then plunge into the upper 20s and low 30s.
