Mayor McMillan to proclaim Clarksville a “Purple Heart City”

purple heart city

Mayor Kim McMillan will proclaim Clarksville as a “Purple Heart City” in a very special ceremony on July 1.

Rebuilding Together Nashville will be on location in Clarksville at the home of Todd and Cathrine Shaw, both of whom are Purple Heart Recipients.  Mr. Shaw is the Commander of the Order of the Purple Heart in Clarksville.

“I am so excited to proclaim Clarksville as a “Purple Heart City” and I cannot think of a more appropriate place to do so than the celebration of this wonderful family and the rebuilding of their home. “Todd and Cathrine have given so much to our community and continue to make a difference every day.  I am so happy that they were selected for the 1500th Sears and Rebuilding Together Heroes at Home project.  I also want to thank Rebuilding Together Nashville for their hard work and vision.  The work they do is vital to our community and so very much appreciated,”  said Mayor McMillan.

Rebuilding Together Nashville is one of 200 chapters of Rebuilding Together, a national safe and healthy housing organization that provides critical home repairs to low-income homeowners at no cost to the recipient.  Rebuilding Together honors veterans across the country by keeping them safe and healthy on the homefront through accessibility modifications and housing repairs.

The celebration will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Shaw’s home located at 221 Shiloh Road, Clarksville, TN 37042.
