Man bilks two families on washing machine service calls

Clarksville Police Officer Lisa Reed has responded to two separate calls regarding a washing machine service technician advertising on social media in the Clarksville area.

The Clarksville Police Department would like to make the Clarksville community aware of this suspect by providing the information from the two incident reports.

Incident Report 1:

Officer Lisa Reed responded to an investigation for a theft of property on May 21 at 8:01  p.m.  She made contact with the victim, who stated that he had purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine and a dryer from Kenneth Bailey on April 29. The victim stated that once he was home he tested the dryer and it did not work. He made contact with Kenneth Bailey who agreed to fix it at no charge. Kenneth Bailey picked up the dryer on May 3. On On May 9 Kenneth Bailey sent the victim a text message stating that the dryer was fixed and he would deliver it to the victim’s home at 8:10 p.m.  Bailey did not bring the dryer to the victim’s home, and has not made contact with the victim to try to return the dryer. The victim has made several attempts to get in touch with Kenneth Bailey to get his property back but  Bailey refuses to return the property. Bailey has even changed his phone numbers. Warrant procedures were advised to the victim.

Officer Lisa Reed responded to a call for service on June 16 at 10:41 p.m. The victim stated that onJune 14 she hired  Bailey to fix her washing machine. Bailey came out to her home and he stated that he would have to take her washing machine with him, however he would leave her a loaner machine and he would deliver her machine back to her on Monday and pick up his machine. Bailey also required a $100 payment up-front. On the evening of June 14, the victim turned on the loaner machine to run an empty cycle to clean it out. A little while later the victim’s husband went into the kitchen to find the washing machine was over flowing and spilling water all over the floor. At that time, there was more than three inches of water on the floor. The victim called Bailey and informed him of the situation and was advised he would have a clean-up crew over as soon as possible. The victim waited and a clean-up crew never arrived. The victim continued to speak with Bailey over the weekend and he assured her that he would take care of any damages. On Monday night,  Bailey stopped answering calls and had still not returned her washing machine as agreed. Officer Reed made contact with Bailey via telephone and he stated that he knew he was supposed to bring the machine back but it was too late at night. Officer Reed advised Bailey that she would be taking a report and that the victim could secure a warrant if she didn’t get her washing machine. Bailey became rude and vulgar and Officer Reed had to eventually disconnect the phone call. Bailey has a history of theft. Warrant procedures were advised to the victim.

Kenneth Bailey, a Clarksville resident, is soliciting his services on his Facebook page and other Internet websites. This release is to forewarn the community of Clarksville and to prevent Mr. Bailey from victimizing anyone else.
