Starting on Oct. 1, 2013, Tennessee residents will have the opportunity to shop for affordable health insurance through a federal health insurance marketplace.
As part of our intake process for callers requesting assistance on legal issues that we handle, Legal Aid Society will screen clients for potential eligibility for health insurance through the marketplace. When results warrant, LAS will then send community education materials with accurate referral information to appropriate clients.
The Legal Aid Society offers free civil legal advice to low-income Tennesseans who have nowhere else to turn. Serving 48 counties from offices in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Gallatin, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Oak Ridge, and Tullahoma, the Legal Aid Society fights for equal justice for our most vulnerable citizens. We are funded in part by Legal Services Corporation, the Tennessee Bar Foundation, the United Way, the state of Tennessee and donations.
