The latest news in the death of young, rising actor Lee Thompson Young is that his death certificate has been released. The document states that Young died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. TMZ and several other Hollywood celebrity sites are reporting that Young used a handgun in taking his own life.
The young actor was the former teenage star of Disney’s The Famous Jett Jackson and a much liked cast member of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles, portraying Detective Barry Frost.
His body was found in his Hollywood apartment on August 19 after colleagues from Rizzoli & Isles became concerned when he did not show up for work and urged his landlord to search his apartment. The landlord entered the apartment and found Young’s body.
Young was 29 at the time of his death. He did not leave a suicide note at his apartment.
His family and friends were stunned to learn of his death and remain confused over the sudden and tragic loss. Several Hollywood celebrity sites have reported that law enforcement has been told that he had “depression issues.”
“We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man,” TNT said in a statement. “He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.”
The show aired a title card as a silent tribute to Young on its first new episode since the tragic death on August 19.
TNT has halted production on Rizzoli & Isles fas cast members come to terms with the sudden loss of their cast member.
