Juvenile justice expert speaks frankly about helping youth on statewide TV show

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Task Force Chairperson Dr. Merriel Bullock Neal recently appeared on the Urban OutLook television show to discuss the importance and mission of this group in our community.

The Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Task Force operates under the umbrella and jurisdiction of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, which is a state and federal funded and run agency.

Some of the topics discussed  include; looking at the over-representation of minority youth in secure confinement and coming up with ways to reduce these numbers as well as reducing the numbers of all juveniles that come in contact with the judicial system as a whole.

The Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Task Force was put together by a Tennessee executive order to look at the over-representation of minority youth in secure confinement and to come up with ways to reduce these numbers as well as reducing the numbers of all juveniles that come in contact with the judicial system as a whole.
