Ice Cream contest to benefit FUEL program

I Scream for FUEL Ice Cream Freeze Off  pairs creating ice cream concoctions with the a fundraiser for FUEL, a program that provides weekend food for the needy.

Local churches have again banded together to create unique program that benefits Montgomery County School students.

So, ice cream makers, submit your favorite ice cream creation on August 23 at Salem United Methodist Church. Music for the event is provided by Back Lot Pickers and Channel 4’s snowbird will be on hand as well.

If you wish to enter, contact Salem United Methodist, 645-2544, or Carol Ussery, 647-6846. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, Aug 20. Celebrity judges will determine the winners.

If you just want to taste, visit the church from 4-6 p.m. and add hots, chips, and a drink to your ice cream choices. Donations to FUEL can be made at the door.

Sponsors include United Methodist Churches of Mt. Zion, Antioch, Marion and Salem; the Lone Oak and Memorial Baptist churches; and the Christ Fellowship Methodist Church.
