NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will completely close I-440 eastbound from the I-65 junction in Nashville to the I-24 junction, including the on and off ramps at Nolensville Road this Saturday. This closure is necessary for final pavement marking, installing rip rap, and final clean up on this project.
I-440 Eastbound between I-65 and I-24 will be closed Saturday, September 28th at 4 a.m. through 10:00 p.m.
The repairs are part of a $9.7 million project to widen this stretch of I-440 Eastbound. This is the final weekend interstate closure needed for this improvement project. This will also wrap up the two year widening project that has added more capacity for vehicles on I-440 Eastbound between I-65 and I-24. More than 106,000 vehicles travel the 7.66 mile I-440 corridor each day. The interstate connector was originally completed in 1987.
*All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of rain or severe weather.
Detours are as follows:
From the North, take I-65 South to the I-65/I-40 split over to I-24
From the South, take I-65 North to go to I-24/I-40 or take the Harding Place exit over to I-24
From the West, stay on I-40 East to the I-65/I-40 split over to I-24
If you are driving on I-440 Eastbound, drivers will be advised to take I-65 North over to I-24 or I-40.

Law enforcement officers will be on-site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
