Excessive rain, flooding closes several county roads

Road-Closure-Icon_03The Montgomery County Government Communications Office has issued the following traffic advisory and notice of road closures for the general public. In cases of standing water, the public is reminded not to attempt to drive through high water due tot he risk of flooding the engine, and swift currents sweeping your vehicle into the moving waters. Hidden objects that may damage the vehicle can also be concealed in standing waters. Seek alternate routes around any body of standing water.

The Montgomery County Highway Department has closed several county roads due to flooding and damage.

 

Those roads include:

Powers Place Road

Palmyra Road at Hematite Road

Lock B Road North (in the river bottoms)

Lock B Road South (in the river bottoms)

Chapel Hill Road at Hurricane Creek

C B Road

Lylewood Road

Kirkland Road (the lower end of this road only)

Levi Road

Shelton Ferry Road (in the river bottoms)

Southside Road (in the river bottoms)

Locust Grove Church Road

 

For your safely, please do not go around barricades or drive through water, as roadways can quickly erode with the presence of water. Notifications will be sent as water recedes and roads reopen.
