Dental Bliss of Hermitage and Franklin teamed up with Great America’s Country Star Stacy McCloud for a waterway clean-up on Mill Creek on July 12.
The Mill Creek area is heavily developed with residential and commercial property along much of its length and was among the hardest hit during the flood of 2010.
“We had such an awesome experience cleaning the flood stricken area on Saturday despite the heat. It’s amazing to learn of the need for volunteers needed to continue this work. It is our hope and prayer that Mayor Dean’s Hands On project would be blessed with a continual stream of volunteers to continue this much needed work. There is so much to be picked up and removed and I’m sure the mindset of most is that this flood happened 4 years ago and all is back to normal. …when actually, it is not.”
Dental Bliss provided all needed supplies and also provided lunch/refreshments when the clean-up is finished.
“We are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But it has been through a lot over the years, especially with the historic floods, so it is still in need of a little love,” said Dr. Sharow. “I was excited to be part of this waterway clean up with the Dental Bliss team. When I signed on to be an ambassador for their company, it was because of the wonderful work they do for our community. I’m excited to be out there pitching in and doing my part to give back.”
The disastrous flood of May 2010 deposited tons of debris and trash in fields, on trails, and along the banks of our waterways. Volunteers continue to work together to remove this debris and improve the environment on Mill Creek.
