Brian Matthew Caudle, 49, of 121 Trotter Road, Cunningham, was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center today and charged in relation to an April 21 shooting incident on Highway 48-13.

Caudle is charged with attempted second degree murder, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. His bond is set at $800,000.

Around 1:30 a.m. on April 21, a man was heading south on State Highway 48-13 just before State Highway 149 when a vehicle drove up behind him and tapped his vehicle in the rear. The alleged victim’s vehicle stalled and he pulled over just before Highway 149.

The man in the other vehicle began firing at the alleged victim from his vehicle, so the victim, Ellis Clippinger, 22, of Clarksville, returned fire and shot the alleged suspect, who turned his vehicle around and began driving back towards downtown Clarksville.
