City Council to set property tax due date

The Clarksville City Council will meet in special session today at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.

The agenda is as follows:

1) CALL TO ORDER

ORDINANCE 87-2013-14
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE OFFICIAL CODE RELATIVE TO PROPERTY TAX DUE DATE BE IT
ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE:
That the Official Code of the City of Clarksville, Tennessee, Title 6, “Finance and Taxation,”
Chapter 2, “Real Property Taxes,” Section 6-201, “Due date and delinquent date for real and
personal property taxes,” is hereby amended by deleting paragraph (1) of said section in its
entirety and substituting instead the following:

(1) For tax years prior to tax year 1999, the real and personal property taxes shall be due and
payable on October 1. For the 1999 and 2014 tax years, taxes levied by the City of
Clarksville on real and personal property shall be due and payable on December 1. For
tax years 2000 through 2013 and all tax years after 2014, the real and personal property
taxes shall be due and payable on October 1.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon passage.
FIRST READING: June 26, 2014

CURRENT LANGUAGE:
6-201 (1)
For tax years prior to tax year 1999, real and personal property taxes shall be due
and payable on October 1. For the 1999 tax year, taxes levied by the City of
Clarksville on real and personal property shall be due and payable on December 1.
For all tax years thereafter, the real and personal property taxes shall be due and
payable on October 1.
