Child fatally injured in gunshot accident

Clarksville Police Officers were dispatched to the 2600 Block of Arthurs Court. Sunday at 5:46 p.m.in response to a reported gun shot wound that became a child fatality.

When they arrived they discovered a four-year -old child suffering from a gun shot wound to the chest.

The child was transported via Life Flight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation has shown that the child gained access to a loaded handgun and accidentally shot himself. This is an ongoing investigation.
