Arthur Bing named interim director of Clarksville Transit System

CTS

Mayor Kim McMillan has appointed Arthur Bing as the Interim Director of the Clarksville Transit System. Mr. Bing’s appointment will become effective July 1, 2014 upon the resignation of long-time Director Jimmy Smith.

“Jimmy Smith has been one of the most dedicated and professional members of our team for over twenty years,” said Mayor Kim McMillan. “Because of his efforts and vision, CTS continues to break records in service and ridership every year. He has been a tireless leader, tremendous advocate and trusted advisor and I will miss him. I wish him only the very best and all the happiness in the world in his retirement.”

“Arthur has extensive experience with CTS and a stellar reputation in the public transportation industry,” continued Mayor McMillan. “He knows the CTS staff and the policies and has been a part of the tremendous growth CTS has experienced over the last few years. I appreciate his willingness to accept the responsibilities of Interim Director.”

The mission of the Clarksville Transit System is to plan, implement, maintain and manage a public transportation system that allows for maximum mobility for the community with emphasis on safety, quality and efficiency. Almost 1 million passengers rode CTS buses.

The search for a permanent Director of CTS will begin immediately. The position will be posted, and applications will be accepted, on the City’s website . For questions about employment with the City, call 931-645-7451.
