GOLDEN POND, KY: Due to inclement weather moving into the area, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area has closed all major access roads to the National Recreation Area, including Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway, as of 5 p.m. Thursday, December 5.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be maintaining US68/KY80 to the best of their ability throughout these winter storms. The public should use caution on all roadways, as icy conditions may exist.
“Following today’s Paducah Weather Service briefing, and consulting with both the Kentucky and Tennessee transportation departments, we have decided to close Woodlands Trace and other accesses to Land Between The Lakes at 5pm today. “We fear that with hazardous conditions predicted and limited mobile telephone coverage, individuals could easily get stranded within Land Between The Lakes. We ask that drivers respect the barricades,” stated Land Between The Lakes Area Supervisor, Tina Tilley.
Officials with the Forest Service plan to open Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway and other roads as soon as it is safe to travel.
