Stewart County Visitor Center presents Diary/Life of Nannie Haskins
Stewart County Visitor Center will present The Life and Diary of Nannie Haskins, a film and presentation by Dr. Ellen Kanervo and Sarah Kanervo, March 29 at 6 P.M. The program is just of many programs offered by the Stewart County community in commemoration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial.
Sixteen-year-old Nannie Haskins lived in Clarksville and kept a diary account of life during the Civil War. Her story has been revived, thanks to a locally-produced film, written and produced by the Kanervos. Dr. Kanervo is professor emeritus of Communications at Austin Peay State University. The film features footage of historic sites and homes near Clarksville.
This program has been made possible by the generosity of Ellen and Sarah Kanervo, the Stewart County Public Library, the Stewart County Arts and Heritage Council, and the National Park Service.
The event is free and open to the public. The Stewart County Visitor Center is located at 117 Visitor Center Lane in Dover, across from and just past the entrance to Fort Donelson National Battlefield Park. Refreshments will be served.
