Fort Donelson sets Mulligan lecture, “African American troops in Western Kentucky”
Fort Donelson Visitor Center will host a public lecture by Professor William H. Mulligan Jr. on February 25 at 2 P.M. Professor Mulligan will speak and have a discussion on African American troops in Western Kentucky during the Civil War. The theme of the lecture is, “Claiming Their Freedom: The 4th and 8th United States Heavy Artillery (Colored).” The program is free and open to the public.
The park is located on Hwy 79 in Dover, Tennessee, and it commemorates the 1862 battles of Forts Henry, Heiman, and Donelson.
This event is part of the Stewart County Civil War Sesquicentennial Observance.
Fort Donelson National Battlefield is one of nearly 400 national parks.
