A man is in jail after attempting to sell golf clubs taken from the stolen vehicle he drove to meet the buyer — who were police officers. Willie Charles Cole, Jr., 19, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with theft of a motor vehicle. Bond is set at $15,000.

On January 17, a 28-year-old man parked his vehicle in the parking lot of the YMCA located on 260 Hillcrest Drive. When the man went to leave at approximately 6 p.m.,  he found that his keys and 1999 Jeep Cherokee were missing. A stolen vehicle notification was distributed to area law enforcement.

On January 18th, the 28-year-old property owner was searching Craigslist when he saw golf clubs and other items from inside his vehicle offered for sale. He contacted Detective Tracy Woodruff who subsequently arranged a meeting with the seller of the items at a Pageant Lane parking lot on January 19th, to purchase the stolen golf clubs.
