“Form is Content”exhibition closes

Although harsh winter weather forced the cancellation  of Form is Content opening reception, Trahern Gallery hosted a lively closing reception for the Ken Shipley exhibition. Attendance was brisk as guests moved about the exhibit space to view the individual pieces. A pleasant chatter dominated the room as the evening progressed. A wonderful artwork entitled, Lighthouse, sits just outside the gallery entrance and, lending a welcoming arch to the exhibit.

The open space of the Trahern Gallery proved the perfect setting for viewing this collection of ceramic sculpture and structures. Combined  with the artist’s inclusion of travel photographs and drawings along the walls, the atmosphere was set for cordial interaction and reflection.

Shipley was readily available during the course of the evening, mingling freely with guests and anyone who sought to comment on the work or moment of his time to pose a question. This writer found the reception to be very exciting and engaging as the guests mixed freely and robustly. Among the faces seen at the reception were Professor Cindy Marsh, Downtown Gallery Director Gregg Schlanger, APSU Art Dept. Graduate Janelle Costello and Clarksvillian-about-town Terry McMoore.
